Full Swing Season 3
Analyzing the success of Netflix's behind-the-scenes show *Full Swing* and what to expect from the upcoming season.
🗣️ Hello Friends,
The highly anticipated Netflix show Full Swing makes its season 3 debut on February 25th.
If you aren’t familiar, Full Swing is a behind the scenes documentary series that highlights some of the best moments from the previous PGA Tour season.
Netflix first produced Drive to Survive, which was a documentary series on racers on the Formula 1 circuit. The show is attributed to helping grow F1’s popularity, which then propelled Netflix to produce a similar series for professional Tennis and Golf.

Both shows have helped grow the sport, as we will cover in this newsletter.
As a golf enthusiast myself, I am very excited to binge watch the upcoming season this weekend.
In today’s newsletter, we will dive into:
Full Swing’s impact on Golf
What players are highlighted
What moments we are looking forward to
Full Swing’s Success
It’s hard to ignore the impact that Full Swing has had on helping professional golf and showcasing key moments for fans.
Sports Business Journal reported total hours watched for both seasons year-over-year:
Season 1: 53.1 million hours
Season 2: 28.5 million hours
The first season highlighted the 2022 golf season, that was headlined by the LIV Golf shakeup. Season 2 gave us a look at the 2023 golf season, highlighting key storylines like the Ryder Cup and Zach Johnson’s captain pick selection process.
Despite the drop in hours watched, both seasons are deemed successful in my opinion, for creating even more stories and drama to be talked about.
People in general love watching the behind-the-scenes of people. Just think about all those reality tv shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians and daily vlogs that content creators post that get millions of views.
This is basically a yearly vlog of the PGA Tour. Sports fans love watching these type of sports documentaries that show things that we don’t get to see everyday and often speculate.

Here are three moments that I’m looking forward to seeing in Full Swing season 3:
Neal Shipley at the Masters
As the lone amateur to make the cut at the 2024 Masters, Neal Shipley had the golf world in a chokehold during the best tournament of the golf year. The Ohio State graduate student was paired with Tiger Woods during the final round.
Shipley fired a 73 on Sunday, besting Tiger by four strokes. The pair were talking a lot throughout the round, and it was a fantastic story that kicked off the 2024 major season.
Also, the memes that came from the Butler Cabin interviews were hilarious. Shipley’s facial expressions blew up social media, as shown below:
Bryson and Rory’s duel at Pinehurst
This one is what golf fans should be most looking forward to seeing, unless you’re a Rory McIlroy superfan.
Rory missed two sub-five foot putts in the last couple holes at the 2024 US Open, most notably on a downhill Donald Ross slider on the 18th from about three feet to ultimately lose the tournament.
Bryson’s heroic bunker shot on the par 4 18th at Pinehurst No. 2 will go down as one of the clutchest shots in US Open history.
These interviews with Bryson and Rory recapping the series of events will be super entertaining, and it’ll be interesting how Rory reacts to it all after having months to decompress.

Ludvig’s Masters breakout
I would imagine the Masters covers a lot of screen time in Full Swing season 3. Shipley’s moment is on my list, and I could have included Scottie’s triumphant victory after possibly withdrawing due to the potential birth of his child. I believe Ludvig’s breakout performance at Augusta is more intriguing as he’s the current rising star of the PGA tour.
Aberg was trailing by three heading into Sunday, and tied the lead with a near 40-foot birdie on the 9th. However, Aberg’s approach on the 11th found the water, and led to a double bogey, as Scheffler simultaneously birdied the 10th.
The moment when Aberg tied the lead was amazing, and I hope it gets covered extensively in this new season. He’s the next big star in golf, and I also hope he shows his personality in the interviews.
